Artikel: Using genuine Hermès leather (Certified)

Using genuine Hermès leather (Certified)
What is the most important aspect of a bag?
For me, it’s the leather.
After all, a bag is simply leather that has been cut and sewn together.
That’s why luxury brands like Hermès and Chanel go to extreme lengths to source the best leather from the world’s finest tanneries.

Authentic Beton vs. Thierry Studio Gris Perle
(Since Beton is out of stock, we’re comparing it with Gris Perle.)
Look at the leather. It’s identical.

The color, texture, and feel are exactly the same.
Next, let’s compare a Lindy

The left side (with the tag) is the authentic Lindy.
"We use the same leather as Hermès."
This is what truly sets Thierry Studio apart from other manufacturers.
It’s the most important factor.
So make sure to read until the end!
Does Hermès really use the best leather in the world?
Just a quick search will tell you that
Hermès sources only the finest leather globally.
Here are some of the tanneries that
supply leather for Hermès bags:
Box, Negonda Leather → Du Puy
Ostrich Leather → Klein Karoo (KK)
Clemence → Remy Carriat
Togo → Weinheimer
Swift → Pomari
Epsom → Haas
If you’ve been researching Hermès replicas,
you’ve probably seen countless sellers claiming:
"We use the exact same leather as Hermès!"
This includes Chinese factories and every seller all around the world.
Why? Because they need to sell.
They all say their products are made with genuine leather
But is that really true?
Of course not.
In 99% of cases,
they’re just saying whatever it takes to make a sale.
Anyone can say they use real leather.
Don’t just take their word for it.
If they really uses authentic leather,
they should be able to prove it.

Clemence – Remy Carriat (Certified)
Togo – Weinheimer Odessa Calf (TR Grade Certified)
Epsom – Haas (Certified)
Ostrich – KK (Certified)
Barenia – Haas (Certified)
Swift – Pomari (Certified)
If a seller truly uses genuine leather,
they should be able to take a photo of the leather alongside their
business name card, phone, or a memo for verification.
Even this is just the bare minimum of proof.
To be 100% certain, they should also provide photos of the leather stored
in their workshop and the production process in action.
We can show you all of that.
Not just pictures of leather
but verifiable proof with business credentials.
Here’s our stock of Epsom leather from Haas.
You don’t have to buy from us.
But if any other seller claims to use authentic Hermès leather, ask them for proof.
They won’t be able to provide it.
Because 99.9% of sellers are simply reselling
factory-made bags they bought elsewhere.
Many factories won’t even allow photos to be taken.
At the very least,
ask for a photo of the leather with their
logo, website, or Instagram handle.
I want to emphasize it again
Thierry Studio is a verified manufacturer that
exclusively uses genuine Hermès leather and we can prove it.
What happens if a bag is made with non-genuine leather?
Some Chinese leathers have improved over the years.
At first glance, they might look and feel
similar to authentic leather even upon touch.
But let’s compare different types of bags
made with Chinese leather:
1. Semi-Handcrafted – Retail Price: $450-$600
2. Semi-Handcrafted (Higher Grade) – Retail Price: $600-$900
3. Fully Handcrafted – Retail Price: $1,100-$2,200
Looking at these, can you tell the difference?
Probably not.
Most people can’t distinguish leather quality
unless they’ve handled authentic Hermès bags extensively.
Since it's hard to distinguish leather quality,
That’s why when people buy a $1,000 replica, they often think:
"Wow, this looks exactly the same! It’s perfect!"
100만원 짜리 구매하셔도
오, 너무 똑같고 좋은데? 하시는거에요
At first glance, everything seems fine.
But the moment they see an authentic Hermès bag in person,
they freeze.
"Wait… so this is what the authentic feels like?"
"Why does mine feel so stiff (or too soft)?"
"Why is the texture completely different?"
"Why does my bag lose its shape so easily?"
That’s when reality hits and they want to run away from their purchase.
The problem with Chinese leather
A bag made with authentic leather will age gracefully, molding into a perfect shape and soften naturally over time.
But Chinese leather? Issues start to appear over time.
Becomes too stiff or too soft
Loses its shape completely
leather peels easily
lose its shape or discolors unnaturally
Luxury brands invest heavily in top-tier leather for a reason.
Chinese leather and authentic Hermès leather are
worlds apart in both price and quality.
Even fake leather certifications exist
Just because a leather has a Weinheimer, Haas, or Remy Carriat label,
it doesn’t mean it’s always geunine.
Counterfeit leather exists.
I learned this lesson the hard way when I first started.
Selecting genuine leather requires a trained eye.
To develop this skill, I put in years of effort.
Visited leather markets daily,
got scammed by fake leather sellers and learned from experience.
I knew I had to be able to distinguish genuine leather with absolute certainty,
so I started attending the Hong Kong Leather Fair every year to refine my expertise.
Here’s my 2024 visit to the Leather Fair.
At these fairs, the world’s top tanneries showcase their leather,
allowing us to examine and hand-select each hide.
With years of experience,
I can now easily identify real vs. fake leather.
Thierry Studio only uses genuine Hermès leather.
So there’s no need to worry.
There's one more thing
just as important as using authentic leather.
That is
selecting the highest-quality leather even among genuine leathers.
Even within genuine leather, quality varies.
Let me show you why personally inspecting and
selecting leather is so important.
For example, look at these
two Clemence leathers from Remy Carriat
If you look closely, the leather on the right has larger grains,
while the one on the left has smaller grains.
This kind of variation in grain size can be
significantly different from the standard leather quality.
If the grain size is uneven or appears clustered in small fragments, or
if there are minor imperfections like scratches, it affects the overall quality.
Just like human skin, some have smooth, flawless skin,
while others may have scars. Leather is the same.
Every single leather is different.
Even if they are all TR-grade or top-tier,
each piece has its own unique characteristics and
imperfect leather can never create a perfect bag.
When selecting leather, I first scan through all the hides,
carefully identifying the best ones.
Once we’ve chosen the leather, I lay it out and examine it closely,
deciding which specific sections should be used for crafting.
In the photo above,
the right side is from the cow’s head and neck area,
while the left side is from the hindquarters.
The hindquarter leather has a more consistent grain,
which is why I prefer using it for production.
In fact, the hindquarter leather is considered
the highest quality in the industry.
Thierry Studio's Birkin 25 Togo
The grain is incredibly even and beautifully uniformed, isn’t it?
Perfection comes first, not cost-cutting
One leather hide usually yields only 1 or 2 bags.
If we maximize output, we could technically make 4 bags per hide.
But that would ruin the bag’s structure and quality.
That’s why at Thierry Studio, we prioritize perfection over quantity.
My philosophy and pride lie in creating the perfect bag,
even if it means using an entire leather hide for just one bag and discarding the rest.
We’re crafting bags that represent one of the world’s most prestigious luxury brands.
They deserve to be made perfectly.
Hermès bags can last 10, 20 years, or even longer.
And let’s be honest 10 or 20 years from now,
Hermès will still be the most prestigious luxury brand in the world.
Think of this as a bag you'll use for at least 10 years
so choose the best quality from the start
It’s really unfortunate to see some people
hesitate at our prices, wondering if there's
some place as good as Thierry Studio, but cheaper.
They go searching elsewhere, only to get scammed by another store,
and eventually come back to us regretting their mistake.
There is no such thing as "cheap and good."
This is a bag that costs around $22,000 to begin with.
Louis Vuitton and Chanel?
Anyone can carry them these days.
But Hermès, especially Birkin and Kelly aren’t bags just anyone can own.
If you’re thinking, "As long as I carry it, people will assume it’s auth"
then make sure you’re buying from an experienced,
reputable atelier like ours at the right price for the right quality.
Please, don’t get fooled by cheap imitations and end up regretting it.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
I truly hope my sincerity about our products has reached you.
